Final: Result

ALEESHA AND MATT ARE STRICTLY COME DANCING CHAMPIONS OF 2007!!!

Final: Comments

1) Matt and Flavia
American Smooth - Not so keen. I wasn't a big fan the first time, and at some points he looked like he was walking.
Salsa - Although I didn't like the colour change of the outfit (green looked much better), it was really really good.
Judge's Choice Quickstep - I don't think it worked with music, really. Hated the start (he looked like a dad at a wedding!) but got a bit better in hold.
Showdance - Very precise and clipped. Liked the one-armed lift, and the introduction. Wasn't the best dance of the night.

2) Aleesha and Matt
Waltz - Perfection. That's all I can say.
Cha Cha Cha - Again, perfection. And liked the outfit change.
Judge's Choice Jive - Matt and Lilia danced to this track as a Jive last year and I enjoyed it. The Jive was definitely the better choice of dance. I couldn't see anything wrong with it. Liked the ending.
Showdance: Wow.

Gethin danced his last dance to "Hard to Say I'm Sorry" from Chicargo.

Semi-Final: Result

Aleesha got through to the final straight away (meaning that she must have recieved the top or second top (not bottom) public vote!!!)
Matt and Gethin were therefore in the bottom two.
Arlene saved her Gorgeous Gethin, but all the rest saved Matt.

Semi-Final: Comments

1) Aleesha and Matt
Quickstep - I was ready for someone to dance a Jive to that track!!! But it worked well with the routine. It was really really good. How can she have never got full marks?
Argentine Tango - Didn't like the intro very much but the lifts were good (we don't care about bent legs!!!). She is a great dancer and a story-teller. If she doesn't win, it is awful.

2) Matt and Flavia
Argentine Tango - To say Flavia is an Argentine Tango professional, I didn't think the routine was that breath-taking apart from the lifts. Liked the ending lift.
Waltz - 40/40? When Aleesha didn't get that score for most her dances, Gethin didn't get it for some of his dances and Letitia didn't get it for her Jive last week! What??? Too romantic for my liking, and... 40/40??? I'm really surprised.

3) Gethin and Camilla
Paso Doble - That was amazing!!! I actually can't believe how good it was. And that didn't get 40/40!!! At least Len had some sense and gave him a 10!
Argentine Tango - Liked the introduction and the choice of music. Very fancy footwork, and very romantic. Liked the lifts. It was all there. And that didn't get 40/40!!! Oh, I'm so annoyed about the 40/40!!!

Week 10: Review

All the couples danced two new dances to them:

Ballroom

1) Gethin and Camilla - American Smooth
"The Green Green Grass of Home" by Tom Jones

"Memory" from Cats
My score = 10
Judge's score (average) = 10

3) Letitia and Darren - Waltz
"The Impossible Dream" by The Quest

Judge's score (average) = 7

Vincent and Flavia performed an Argentine Tango to "Los Amigos" by Armando Punturero.
In the bottom two were Letitia and Aleesha. All the judges saved Aleesha.
Letitia danced her last dance to "You've Got a Friend" by James Taylor.

Week 10: Result

In the bottom two was Letitia (no surprise there) and Aleesha (I had a feeling that she would be, seeing as she wasn't at the top).
All the judges saved Aleesha (no surprise there).
I feel sorry for Letitia as it was definitely her best week (loved her Jive!!!)

Week 10: Comments

1) Gethin and Camilla
American Smooth - Didn't really appreciate the choise of music, but it was a very good dance. Liked the lifts, but sometimes it looked like he was walking... was he meant to?
Jive - 40/40 all the way! Great intro and ending, and, to be honest, great content! Bruno was the only judge who gave the right mark for that dance. This and his Salsa deserved 40/40: the judges are mad.

2) Aleesha and Matt
Vieniesse Waltz - Aleesha is a beautiful woman, but I don't think that dress was her best. But onto the dancing... again, the judges have gone mad. Great music, great dance... great people!
Paso Doble - LOVED the music, seeing as I play it :P Another good dance: may-be not her best, but I don't think what Len said was true - Aleesha won't have a bad dance! If she doesn't win, the British public have actually gone mad!

3) Letitia and Darren
Waltz - Very nice dress - she looked very pretty! I can't believe that 35 was her highest score -I thought her Paso had got loads! But a very good dance.
Jive - The judges weren't having a good dance tonight - this was absoloutely FANTASTIC! One of the best dances of the series in my opinion. Every bit as good as Gethin's! And she enjoyed it!

4) Matt and Flavia
Foxtrot - Has there ever been a mistake as big as Matt's tonight? I don't think so! At first, I thought it was just a bit of romance at the end of the dance, but then I realised the music carried on for about 15 seconds after they had sat down! Obviously not done enough work. Good opening though.
Samba - A bit better, but he had a rubbish week this week. I think they need to go, after Letitia upped her game considerably tonight. Sorry Flavia, but I don't think you'll be able to show your fantastic Argentine Tango skills with a celebrity again! Have you noticed the A. Tango professionals (aka Flavia and Vincent) have never dance it with a celebrity? Funny, isn't it!

Very annoyed

Just found out I will be missing both the semi-final and the final of SCD 5. Very very very very very very very very very very very annoyed - I wasn't even told I was missing them!!!

Sunday, 2 December 2007

Week 9: Result

In the bottom two were Kenny and Letitia.
Kenny danced his Foxtrot and Letitia danced her Quickstep.
All the judges saved Letitia.

Week 9: Comments

1) Matt and Flavia
Tango - Not really impressed. Made me laugh when they did the walks because it was like a clockwork toy. But not very impressed.
Rumba - Was Ok. Better than his Tango. But really not impressed with his swearing when Len gave him an 8. He deserved an 8, so he shouldn't swear like that on family TV.

2) Gethin and Camilla
Waltz - Didn't deserve 39. I think it was too romantic. The facial expressions were too OTT.
Salsa - Now this deserved 39!!! Amazing!

3) Letitia and Darren
Quickstep - That was nearly as good as Gethin's Waltz! Her steps looked really good to me, and she smiled all the way through though she probablly felt like throwing up.
Cha Cha Cha - Not so good. And the outfit wasn't really complimentary. But she did well again to say she was ill.

4) Kenny and Ola
Foxtrot - Apart from the start when he was walking an imaginary dog, it was good. Not too sure about the furry sausages on her dress though.
Rumba - Arlene's comment was really out of order: being called a pole dancer must have been really hurtful to Ola. And her earing fell out in the dance, so she was probablly not in the best mood ever anyway! But Kenny didn't really dance well.

5) Aleesha and Matt
Tango - Liked the dress and loved the dance. Very traditional and her face was always stern. Perfect. Should have got 39 or 40.
Samba - It was alright but not her best dance. The music wasn't that good. But the ending was fantastic and she danced well. But not that good.

Kelly's Out

After her dad's death from cancer on Monday, Kelly wanted to carry on in the show in his memory, but she has now left the show. It is a shame as she is a good dancer and would have been in the final few. All our love goes to Kelly and her family.

Tuesday, 27 November 2007

Guest professional dancers danced a Charlston to "Happy Feet" by Manhatten Rhythm Kings, with Anton and Erin joining in for a Quickstep to "In the Money" by Fred Astaire.
All the remaining couples remembered 20 years of Dirty Dancing with a medley to "Tes" by Merry Clayton, "Do You Love Me?" by the Contours and "The Time of my Life" by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes, with Kenny and Ola demonstrating the memoric lift.

In the dance-off was Kelly and John.
All the judges saved Kelly.
John danced his last dance to "Stop Crying Your Heart Out" by Rowetta.

Week 8: Result

In the bottom two were Kelly (a big suprise. But a great big suprise!!!) and, once again, John. Funnily, they both had danced Sambas.
All the judges saved John, even though Brendan had called all the judges "old fools" earlier in the show. I hold my opinion, and I think Kelly should have left the show. Don't bring up the group dance - all the other couples managed it, some even got 10s!!! John wasn't that great, but after the arguing and the illegal lifts, Kelly should have gone and saved us more of the arguing and illegal lifts.

Week 8: Comments

1) Gethin and Camilla - Quickstep
His best dance to date. Better than his Rumba, but only just. It was technically perfect.

2) John and Nicole - Samba
I was shocked - I was expecting so much more. Barnesy is normally excellent at the Latin, and the Samba is similar to the Salsa. He's my bet for going tomorrow night.

3) Letitia and Darren - Vieniesse Waltz
Amazing. She waltzed and turned like the best of 'em! She has improved so much. If she gets her hips moving for her Latin, she should go to the final.

4) Kelly and Brendan - Samba
Brendan is awful at Sambas. His choreography is alright, but since his Series 1 Samba with Natasha Kaplinsky, the music has been awful. But this was Samba Hell!!! Hope she goes out!

5) Kelly and Ola - American Smooth
Improvement! Finally. At least he has got most of his Latin out the way so he will mostly be glidy-glidy. One-armed lift - not really American Smoothish but good all the same!

6) Matt and Flavia - Salsa
This was really really really really good. The only thing that put me off from giving a 10 was his expressions - he looked like he was in pain! But really really really really good all the same!

7) Aleesha and Matt - Cha Cha Cha
Nothing to say. Fab!!! Not too keen on the music, though.

Week 7: Review

All the couples danced a new dance to them:

1) Kelly and Brendan - Jive
"Johnny B Goode" by Chuck Berry
My score = 8
Judge's score (average) = 9

2) Letitia and Darren - Foxtrot
"Call Me Irresponsible" by Bobby Darin
My score = 9
Judge's score (average) = 9

3) Kenny and Ola - Cha Cha Cha
"Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson
My score = 7
Judge's score (average) = 5

4) Gethin and Camilla - Rumba
"Lost" by Michael Buble
My score = 8
Judge's score (average) = 8

5) John and Nicole - Tango
"Dance with Me" by Debelah Morgan
My score = 8
Judge's score (average) = 7

6) Kate and Anton - Paso Doble
"Somebody told Me" by the Killers
My score = 7
Judge's score (average) = 5

7) Aleesha and Matt - Waltz
"A Time for Us" by Johnny Mathis
My score = 9
Judge's score (average) = 10

8) Matt and Flavia - Quickstep
"Is You or Is You Ain't My Baby" by BB King
My score = 9
Judge's score (average) = 9

The professionals danced a Foxtrot to "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off" by Louis and Ella, and "Pennies from Heaven" by Frank Sinatra.
Guest Latin Champions also danced a Rumba and Samba medley to "Look of Love" by Diane Krall and "Mas Que Nada" by Sergio Mendes and the Black-Eyed Peas.

In the dance-off was Kate and John.
All the judges saved John.
Kate danced her last dance to "Ain't No Sunshine" by Bill Withers.

Wednesday, 21 November 2007

Week 7: Result

The dance-off was John and... KATE!!! Finally!!!
Obviously John was saved by all. I never thought I'd see the day Kate walked out of the competition. Better luck next year, Anton!

Week 7: Comments

1) Kelly and Brendan - Jive
Nearest thing to Jill and Darren's? I don't think so! I wasn't keen on the music, and I didn't think the dance was that good to be honest! What makes her stand out to the judges?

2) Letitia and Darren - Foxtrot
She has improved drastically, and this was fantastic. She suits the Ballroom outfits more, and she doesn't have to mover her hips, which is good for her. Very good!

3) Kenny and Ola - Cha Cha Cha
He's got better, but it was all Michael Jackson moves: no Latin American moves! I think he has got to go soon if this programme is dance-based.

4) Gethin and Camilla - Rumba
Absolutely amazing! He was pleased with his scores, but like Gabby said, the judges were really harsh. They're not a couple so it must have been hard for him. One of the best dances of the series'.

5) John and Nicole - Tango
His best Ballroom dance so far, but nowhere near as good as his Latin. And if you think about it, I think it looks like it should be the other way around. He might go soon...

6) Kate and Anton - Paso Doble
Her best Latin dance so far. But that's really not saying much. Good choice of music and clever choreography, but... poor Anton. Let's leave it like that.

7) Aleesha and Matt - Waltz
Amazing. Beautiful. Absolutely fantastic. I find her Latin more exciting and she suits the outfits, but her Ballroom is so elegant and beautiful. Lovely.

8) Matt and Flavia - Quickstep
I didn't notice the trip, but after re-watching it, I can see why he was marked down. I thought it was alright. Actually, it was really quite good. But not his best dance in my opinion.

Saturday, 17 November 2007

Week 6: Review

All the couples danced either a Salsa or a Vieniesse Waltz:

1) Gethin and Camilla - Vieniesse Waltz
"Fallin'" by Alicia Keys
My score = 9
Judge's score (average) = 9

2) Penny and Ian - Salsa
"Higher" by Gloria Estefan
My score = 7
Judge's score (average) = 6

3) Matt and Flavia - Vieniesse Waltz
"When a Man Loves a Woman" by Michael Bolton
My score = 8
Judge's score (average) = 7

4) Kate and Anton - Salsa
"Peanut Vendor" by Anita O'Day
My score = 6
Judge's score (average) = 5

5) Letitia and Darren - Salsa
"Pastime Paradise" by Ray Barretto
My score = 7
Judge's score (average) = 6

6) Kenny and Ola - Vieniesse Waltz
"Flower of Scotland" by Lulu
My score = 7
Judge's score (average) = 7

7) John and Nicole - Salsa
"Ran Kan Kan" by Tito Puente
My score = 10
Judge's score (average) = 9

8) Kelly and Brendan - Vieniesse Waltz
"Delilah" by Tom Jones
My score = 8
Judge's score (average) = 9

9) Aleesha and Matt - Salsa
My score = 10
Judge's score (average) = 9

The professionals danced a Jive to "Rebel Yell" by Billy Idol.
And all the couples danced a Jitterbug in honour of Remembrance Weekend to "In the Mood" by Glen Miller, "Bounce Me, Brother" by Andews Sisters and "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" by Bette Midler.

In the dance-off was Penny and Matt. This is another surprising choice by the public.
Arlene saved Penny, but the rest saved Matt.
Penny danced her last dance to "Didn't I Blow Your Mind" by the Delfronics.
